Hansen Architects and Ben Carter Enterprises have been working on several Broughton Street renovations since August of 2013. These renovations have included over 10 historic properties, as well as one new construction building located at 230-240 West Broughton Street. Several of the properties on Broughton Street were in a state of abandonment and disrepair when they were acquired by Ben Carter Enterprises. Since BCE has acquired these historic buildings, the facades have been uncovered to reveal original brick and stone work details and window openings. The Hansen team has completed numerous hours of field measuring, research to attain historical data, construction documentation, and coordination with contractors, tenants, local government and review boards. Hansen has also provided floor plans and designs for national and local retailers who are occupying the newly renovated spaces. There will also be 19 high-end residential lofts available on Broughton Street in which Hansen Architects created design layouts and interior finish selections.
The Broughton Street Collection won Preservation Awards from both the Historic Savannah Foundation and The Georgia Trust.
