J. Paul Hansen, FAIA, President
Paul took the helm from his father in the late 60’s as Principal Architect. Under his leadership, the firm has earned numerous awards and gained notoriety in a variety of regional and national publications. He is a Bronze Medal and Distinctive Honor Award recipient from AIA Georgia and was elected to the College of Fellows of The American Institute of Architects for his notable contributions to the profession.
Eugene Maria, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Principal
Gene has been with the firm since 1995 and serves as Production Manager overseeing the preparation of Construction Documents and Specifications. His knowledge and attention to detail ensure the highest level of quality control throughout the design. Gene has a Master of Architecture, is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Patrick L. Phelps, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Principal
Patrick’s degrees in both Architecture and Historic Preservation are dual assets in his management and design roles. His design ability is complemented by a thorough understanding of building codes, agency requirements, and methods of construction. Patrick is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is past president of the AIA Savannah Chapter and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Erik Puljung, Principal
Erik is heavily involved in Historic Preservation and Residential projects, working closely with approval agencies and architectural review boards. Erik creates unique, custom designed homes for clients, as well as being involved with the construction administration of each project. He stays involved throughout the process from design to completion. His experience with and understanding of construction along with professional degrees in both Architecture and Historic Preservation add to his overall resourcefulness.
Alexis AuBuchon, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Associate
Alexis joined Hansen Architects in 2014. Prior to joining the Hansen team, Alexis spent ten years working at a National Landmark Historic Site on a wide variety of projects, upholding the highest preservation standards. Alexis has worked on projects of various scale, including the overall preservation effort of over twenty buildings and structures, with dates of construction ranging from 1850-1930, on a sixteen acre site. As part of a non-profit organization, Alexis planned and managed preservation projects under strict budgetary and quality restraints. She was an active participant in each phase of projects through construction, which gives her a unique perspective on troubleshooting design issues as they arise, and allows her to better plan for future problems. She is a skilled technical draftsman and has fully documented several buildings to HABS/HAER standards from field measured drawings. She is a graduate of SCAD where she received a Master of Architecture and a Minor in Historic Preservation.
Amy D. Porch, Senior Interior Designer
Amy has been with Hansen since 2006 and serves as the firm’s Interior Designer. Her knowledge and experience in space planning, custom design, fixtures, finishes and furnishings are assets for our clients and architectural team. Her organizational skills ensure budget control and ultimate coordination in purchasing and installations. Amy makes it a priority to remain current on new industry standards and materials, giving clients creative and custom options for their interiors. Amy is a graduate from the University of Kentucky where she earned high honors and a Bachelor of Arts, Interior Design.
