Savannah Convention Center

The Savannah Convention Center, located on Hutchinson Island across the Savannah River from historic downtown Savannah, first opened in 2000 with 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, 13 meeting rooms, a 25,000-square-foot ballroom, a 367-seat auditorium, and four boardrooms. Over the years, the facility welcomed a wide range of clients and events, but increasing demand made the need for expansion clear. A feasibility study confirmed this necessity, leading to plans for a larger facility.

To support growth in the convention market and remain competitive, the Savannah Convention Center underwent a significant expansion. The project added a second 100,000-square-foot exhibit hall, effectively doubling the original exhibit space, along with a new 40,000-square-foot ballroom, 15 additional meeting rooms, and over 900 parking spaces.

Hansen Architects, which served as the Associate Architect for the original design, was once again the Associate Architect for the expansion, partnering with tvsdesign to bring the project to life.
