The Link - Youth Activities Building, Compassion Christian Church

This 33,500 square foot student activity’s building is nestled within a stand of trees overlooking a lake and was designed to support multiple youth ministry teams for Compassion Christian Church’s Henderson location in Savannah, GA. The building provides a 600-seat multi-purpose auditorium with performance platform, concert sound, specialty lighting and acoustics, and closed circuit TV to support guest speakers, musical performances and sports activities. There are 6 large breakout meeting rooms, a lounge, kitchen and various activity and game areas including one with a climbing wall. Youth ministry and administrative support offices are connected to the activities center. Interior finishes are colorful, fun, and contemporary representing a variety of materials selected for durability and high-energy use. Advanced technology is predominant throughout. The building merges indoor and outdoor spaces and LEED principles were incorporated into the design. Hansen Architects also worked with member group representatives to define the program, provide presentation fundraising materials and to control cost during construction. The building has enhanced membership for Compassion Christian Church and has become a community destination for youth.
